Sandra Miller - dance teacherSandra is available for master classes, dance intensives, workshops or coaching.

As a teacher and coach, Sandra Miller embodies the best of dance both historical and new, classical and contemporary and artistic and analytical.  Her training touched the beginnings of classical ballet studying with a dancer in Anna Pavlova’s company, expanded with stars of the legendary Ballet Russe and continued with the masters that have produced today’s finest dancers. Studying with David Howard in the golden age of dance and sharing the barre with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Natalia Markarova, Antony Dowell, Gelsey Kirkland, Cynthia Harvey, Darci Kistler, Lourdes Lopez and other resident and rising stars of ABT, NYCB and Joffrey Ballet, she absorbed a wealth of knowledge to pass on to her students. Long term experience with teachers who danced in the original companies of Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham coupled with experiential knowledge of the dynamic trends in modern dance, Sandra understands the range of dance today. With a BFA in Ballet and an MBA, this highly educated teacher has the analytical expertise to back her innate teaching skills and creativity. A principal dancer in the Ft. Worth Ballet (now TX Ballet Theatre) she worked with such luminaries as Arthur Mitchell, James Clouser, Fernando Bujones and Erik Bruhn. Adding to her artistic experience is Pilates certification that yields a contemporary anatomically correct approach to training.

She was also a faculty member at the acclaimed South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, and has taught at Ballet Austin, Ballet Spartanburg, the Greenville Fine Arts Center, Schaffenburg Ballet and Texas Christian University. Teaching a range of ages, she has substantial experience in ballet, modern, pointe, partnering, men’s classes, Pilates, movement re-education and injury prevention.  Her  nurturing approach, ability to mentor children, adolescents and young adults, and her rapport with adults have made her a favorite with students. Highly effective analytical skills, a unique communication aptitude, and creativity have allowed Sandra to be a successful teacher and role model. Her students have the skills to pursue careers in dance and tools to succeed in life. A former student residing in London writes: “Making the decision to train with Sandi was equivalent to taking the steps necessary to fulfill my dreams of becoming a professional dancer. The passion and attention that Sandi gives her students is always inspiring and encouraging and the quality of the instruction gives her students the tools required to take their art as far as they desire. I have been taught by many world class teachers before and since training with Sandi, and never have I found another teacher as dedicated or attentive.”
